The Bronze.

Matte black patinated bronze, giving it a sober and raw appearance, without the classic reflections of a glossier patina. Textured, deliberately irregular, suggesting expressive modeling and an intent to preserve the artist’s gesture. Elongated head, slightly stylized, with restrained realism and a degree of abstraction in the secondary volumes
(notably at the back). The piece does not aim to idealize; instead, it emphasizes the inner structure of the face, with an almost anatomical tension. It does not seek academic beauty, but rather a more psychological or existential truth. This aligns with a modern/postmodern sensibility. Superfluous detail is avoided, which is typical of a contemporary aesthetic. The back of the skull, for example, is almost amorphous, even “erased,” drawing attention to the tension in the profile. It also evokes a certain melancholy, or a quest for identity a presence more than a representation.
